Sri Lanka and Malaysia have reached an agreement on a number of issues that have been confronting the Sri Lankan job seekers who seek jobs in Malaysia. The discussions had been held at the Malaysian High Commission in Colombo, headed by its Chairman Kingsley Ranawaka.

Chairman Ranawaka said that a number of issues had come up for discussion with the Malaysian Authorities, which had been headed by High Commission's Administrative Secretary, Azizel Hakeem Buwan, with the aim of minimising the problems faced by the Sri Lankan job seekers in Malaysia.

The two parties had come to an agreement to make it compulsory for Sri Lankans seeking jobs in Malaysia to undergo a training under the Bureau of Foreign Employment.

The talks between the two parties had also centred preventing the Sri Lankan job seekers from entering Malaysia using tourist visa.
